2. Faith instead of despair.

3. Courage instead of fear.

4. Peace of mind instead of confusion.

5. Self respect instead of self contempt.

6. Self confidence instead of helplessness.

7. The respect of others instead of pity and contempt.

8. A clean conscience instead of a sense of guilt.

9. Real friendship instead of loneliness.

10. A clean pattern of life instead of a purposeless existence.

11. The love and understanding of our families instead of their doubts and fears.

12. The Freedom of a happy life instead of the bondage of sex and love addiction or anorexia."

1. We seek to develop a daily relationship with a Higher Power, knowing that we are not alone in our efforts to heal ourselves from our addiction.

2. We are willing to be vulnerable because the capacity to trust has been restored to us by our faith in a Higher Power.

3. We surrender, one day at a time, our whole life strategy of, and our obsession with the pursuit of romantic and sexual intrigue and emotional dependency.

4. We learn to avoid situations that may put us at risk physically, morally, psychologically or spiritually.

5. We learn to accept and love ourselves, to take responsibility for our own lives, and to take care of our own needs before involving ourselves with others.

6. We become willing to ask for help, allowing ourselves to be vulnerable and learning to trust and accept others.

7. We allow ourselves to work through the pain of our low self-esteem and our fears of abandonment and responsibility. We learn to feel comfortable in solitude.

8. We begin to accept our imperfections and mistakes as part of being human, healing our shame and perfectionism while working on our character defects.

9. We begin to substitute honesty for self-destructive ways of expressing emotions and feelings.

10. We become honest in expressing who we are, developing true intimacy in our relationships with ourselves and others.

11. We learn to value sex as a by-product of sharing, commitment, trust and cooperation in a partnership.

12. We are restored to sanity, on a daily basis, by participating in the process of recovery."

Election of SLAA Online Intergroup delegate to SLAA ABM 2017

Note! An approved delegate may seek financial assistance for attendance from SLAA Online and SLAA ABM.

Candidate: chitown

Motion from troy re Website design

Motion re Website design: Strike earlier approved GC motions to move the whole SLAA Online website over to an approved new website design: http://demo.templateworld.com/full-websites/098a/index.html

Motivation: If it works - don't fix it! MUCH work would be required - with uncertain benefits. Assess that current albeit retro design, with continual update adjustments as required, adequately meets current needs.

Motion from troy re Use of proxy servers

Motion to disallow any connexions to #slaa through proxy servers, without requiring discussion with user and if practicable automatically.

Motivation: To enable early removal of anonymous users hiding own ip address locations behind proxy servers. This to deal better with trolls and predators. Assess that this is on balance needed to maintain room safety, even if it may inconvenience any regular genuine members currently using proxies.

Motion from Lotus re SLAA ABM 2017

Motion that the Agenda for the Annual Business Meeting of SLAA FWS be posted on our website, complete with all the attachments.

Motion from Lotus re Discussion of SLAA ABM Agenda items

Motion that 15 minutes of every business meeting of SLAA Online Apr-Jun 2017 be spent reviewing and discussing the SLAA ABM Agenda items, with voting on approving each piece of literature, or not, to take place at the June business meeting (the delegate will carry our vote to the ABM).

Motion from cayotejoes re use of non- SLAA conference approved literature in meetings

Motion:

(1) That members avoid bringing AA (and other 12 step group materials) into SLAA, as a whole, unless it is reformatted and refocused on the s addiction (and not on alcoholism), and where an AA excerpt is utilized, that it be formatted in accordance with the SLAA format

(2) As a general guideline, that only SLAA conference approved literature be used at meetings.

Motivation for motion:

In this way, SLAA Online will firmly uphold the following traditions:

SLAA online tradition: The opening script states “You are reminded that this is a CLOSED meeting, which means that it is ONLY open to those who want recovery from sex and love addiction.”

SLAA Tradition Three: The only requirement for S.L.A.A. membership is a desire to stop living out a pattern of sex and love addiction. Any two or more persons gathered together for mutual aid in recovering from sex and love addiction may call themselves an S.L.A.A. group, provided that as a group they have no other affiliation.

SLAA/ AA affiliation clarification from St. Augustine group, 1985: Permission to reprint and adapt the Twelve Traditions does not mean that A.A. is affiliated with this program. A.A. is a program of recovery from alcoholism only. Use of the Twelve Traditions in connection with programs and activities, which are patterned after A.A., but which address other problems, does not imply otherwise. ©1985 The Augustine Fellowship, S.L.A.A., Fellowship-Wide Services, Inc.
