OP DUTIES: Meetings should start on time.
If the leader and greeter are present, they lead and greet. They are
free to switch responsibilities (entirely up to them). If the leader is present
and the greeter is not, the leader may seek a greeter from the operators present.
Optionally, the scheduled leader may seek a leader from members present and
become the greeter. If the leader is not present, the greeter may lead and
seek a greeter from the operators present. Optionally, the scheduled greeter
may seek a leader from members present and reamain the greeter. If the leader
& greeter are not present, any operator present should assume greeting and
seek a leader. Once meeting has started, the trusted servants typically
do NOT change without notice to all those involved. That means that if you
are late, you will likely forfeit your service commitment for that meeting.
It is suggested that the greeter arive about ten minutes early, to voice
regulars and qualify newcomers. If other ops are early, they may qualify
newcomers. The greeter still greets if they arive at start time. It
is encouraged that leaders and greeters occassionally allow others to serve (to
learn the skills). If the leader types "!" to share, the greeter
is the op to call on the leader to have the floor. If an operator is
no longer available for a committed time slot, they should seek a replacement.
The outgoing operator should email slaaonline@slaaonline.org about the change,
so that this schedule remains updated. Operators with current scripts
have commands available of significance:
/omsg
allows you to
send messages to ALL ops in the room (for co-ordination) (this even works
if YOU are NOT an op, but you ONLY see messages IF you are an op) Operators
with outdated scripts should email slaaonline@slaaonline.org for updates /onotice
allows you to send messages to ALL ops IF you are an op yourself
GREETER:Once you have gotten to know someone
instead of having to voice them over and over, right click on their name and choose
"Controls" and then choose "add to auto voice and voice" and
then they will be automatically voiced when you are greeter. If a person comes
in who you do not recognize, you can type: /newbieq (in room between meetings
or in PM or DCC Chat) /newbie nickname (in room during meeting if ALL else
fails) or... If it is NOT during a meeting... 'qualify' a person
by normal chat - sometimes using /newbieq If a meeting has started and you
are the designated greeter... try /msg nickname Hi, ***. Welcome. Are you
new to this room? if they say NO -- consider them to be 'qualified' If
no answer... repeat above after a minute or two If no answer...
try /notice nickname Hi, ***. Welcome. Are you new to this room? Please double-click
on <mynickname> to chat. If no answer... repeat above after a
minute or two If no answer... try /dcc chat nickname (This will
open a special CHAT request to the person - but does *NOT* work for Java users.
Therefore skip this step if their /whois shows that their identd is 'chatter'
or 'mtvjava') wait for a minute for them to acknowledge the DCC CHAT REQUEST If
no answer... use the /newbie nickname command in main room at an appropriate
pause in the flow of the share. Once you have 'qualified' them, if they
weren't in time for the opening readings (which is typically the case), open a
query window to them with: /query nickname
(so that you have a separate window to chat in PM)
then I right-click IN THAT WINDOW and choose: "Meeting Format (for newcomer)"
to play an abbreviated opening script explaining use of ! and such.
